Senior Counsel

Portrait of Mark Windfeld-Hansen

What I do:
I am the co-chair of the tax practice group at Cooley responsible for administering the transactional part of the tax practice. As such, I work on the full range of transactional projects for our clients from formation to exit, including choice of entity matters, mergers & acquisitions, stock and debt offerings, restructurings and other transactions for both early stage and mature public company clients.

Why Cooley:
Cooley’s focus on taking companies from start up to maturity means that we see virtually every kind of transaction there is and have a constant supply of new transactions with interesting tax challenges.

What my clients value:
Extensive deal experience, sensible and practical advice that can be understood by a layman, and a creative approach to solving tax problems.

Likes:
Parenting, theatre, spending time both in my NoCal home near our Palo Alto office and my SoCal condo in Santa Monica close to our LA office, running.

Great reads:
Gilead, McCullough’s biography of Truman, almost any Shakespeare play.

I root for:
My daughter (and other family members of her generation) to have the same good fortune I’ve had in finding an exciting and rewarding career.
